What's Cold Forging?

Cold Forging (or Cold Forming) is a process well-suited for the high volume manufacturing of small metal parts weighing less than 1lb. Multiple diameters can be formed with no scrap and improved strength. Unlike traditional forging, which applies heat during the formation process, cold forging uses force to form the metal into its desired shape.

BENEFITS

What Are the Benefits of Cold Forging?

Cold Forging has a variety of benefits, mainly when applied to small parts or difficult to produce materials.

Improved Strength: Improved strength over parts machined from solid/wrought materials due to grain flow of material after forging.

High Speed: Allows for high-speed manufacturing with complex product geometries.

Less Waste: High material utilization of cold forging creates less waste than other methods.

Efficiency: Cold Forging eliminates multiple part assemblies with one precision cold-formed blank. Multiple diameters and different shapes can be formed in one operation. External threads are added in a secondary thread rolling process

Cost Reductions: Cold forging eliminates multiple part assemblies with one precision cold formed blank. Multiple diameters and different shapes can be formed in one operation.
